Neck label printing

Neck label printing is heat-applied ink inside the collar showing brand, size, and care information, in place of a sewn label.

Neck label printing puts brand name, size, and care symbols directly onto the inside collar using a heat-transfer press or a small direct-to-garment pass, instead of sewing in a woven or satin label. A basic single-color neck print typically costs $0.10 to $0.30 per garment run through an existing heat press, well under the $0.75 to $1.50 a sewn label swap runs.

This is the fastest way to make a stock blank look retail without touching a sewing machine — a run of Next Level tees can go from generic tag to fully branded collar in the same afternoon a screen print job runs, since the neck print uses the same press and often the same ink as the shirt's main design. We've paired a full-front print and a neck-label print in one production pass because both use identical plastisol on the same equipment.

Pros spec neck-label printing for smaller or faster-turn private-label orders where the volume doesn't justify custom woven labels, and reserve sewn labels for higher-end lines where the tactile feel of a woven tag matters to the customer. It also skips the relabeling step entirely — there's no old tag to remove, since the ink goes directly onto the existing neck binding.

The mistake is assuming a printed neck label looks identical to a sewn one in person — ink sits on the surface of the fabric and can feel slightly stiffer against the skin than a soft woven label, which matters on a garment worn tags-out or on sensitive necklines like a crew-neck tee.
