Extended Sizes

Extended sizes start where a blank's core run stops. Most tee lines treat S through XL as core, and anything from 2XL up through 6XL falls into extended sizing, priced and cut on its own schedule. Gildan's 5000, for example, adds roughly a $2 upcharge at 2XL and 3XL and closer to $4 to $5 by 5XL and 6XL, and not every core color ships in every extended size once you get past 3XL.

Team and event organizers hit this constantly on group orders that span a dozen sizes. Body width and length grade up roughly 2 inches per step through the extended range, not just width, so a 5XL isn't simply a wider 2XL, it's proportionally longer too. A heather or seasonal color that's in stock at every core size can quietly disappear from the vendor's catalog above 3XL.

On any order with a wide size spread, pros pull the blank's actual size run and color matrix before quoting rather than after, since a color available S through XL might not exist past 3XL, which forces a substitute color or a different blank for a handful of shirts inside one order.

The mistake buyers make is assuming extended sizes cost the same as core and getting surprised at checkout when the per-size upcharge stacks up. On a 40-shirt order carrying eight 3XLs and four 5XLs, that upcharge alone adds real money to the total, so it belongs in the initial budget conversation, not the final invoice.
